The phrase “environmental remediation” is a general term used to describe the elimination of contamination or pollution from soil, groundwater, and surface water. Sometimes the remediation may be as simple as removing and disposing of contaminated soil, or it may be as complex as the design and installation of in situ treatment processes. Whatever your industry, and however complex your environmental needs, Vecta has the personnel, equipment, and expertise to assist you.
Environmental Site Assessments
The first step in any remediation process is the identification of the nature and scope of environmental contamination. Without proper site assessments, clients may overlook environmental conditions and end up leaving dangerous pollution in place. In other cases, they may overestimate the extent of contamination and spend unnecessary funds removing materials that pose no physical or environmental threat.
Vecta’s team of trained professionals works closely with our clients to perform thorough site assessments, which accurately identify any real or potential Recognized Environmental Condition (REC). These may include any past spill, any potential for future spills, and containerized waste material. Vecta can also assist with sampling and analysis to get a more comprehensive vision of the nature and extent of any existing contamination or any potential exposure.
Excavation and Disposal
Whether your soil removal project involves the excavation of hundreds of yards of contaminated soil or targeted trenching around underground utilities, Vecta has the skilled professionals for the job. Our operators are licensed and trained, and our knowledge of environmental regulations will ensure the clean-up is executed to highest professional and regulatory standards.
Waste disposal can often be the most expensive portion of any excavation project. Vecta works hard to minimize these costs by properly identifying and profiling all waste for disposal. Our on-site treatment solutions have saved our clients tens of thousands of dollars in transportation and disposal costs.
Pond Solidification
Stormwater retention ponds are an integral part of many industrial facilities’ environmental management program, serving as collection points, and often preventing off-site pollution and flooding. Over time, the accumulation of sediments reduces these ponds volume and effectiveness.
Vecta assists our clients in the removal and processing of these sediments, to keep retention ponds functioning at maximum capacity. Sediments are removed with a mobile dredge and pumped to a treatment vessel for the removal of water. The dry solids are then placed in containers for relocation or off-site disposal.
Waste Minimization
Today’s business climate requires all generators of hazardous and non-hazardous waste to be responsible environmental stewards. By reducing the quantity of hazardous waste generated, our clients not only help protect the environment, but also save money in hazardous materials disposal costs, minimize liability, and reduce regulatory requirements.
Vecta relies on decades of knowledge and experience, as well as an extensive network of environmental partners, to minimize the quantity of hazardous waste our clients generate. Through on-site treatment or neutralization, we have been able to eliminate the need for hazardous waste disposal. On other occasions, Vecta has identified re-use and recycling options that allowed our clients to resell material that would have otherwise been classified as a hazardous waste.
